New Town Rajarhat

New Town is located partly in the district of North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas in the state of West Bengal. A planned development area where information technology and residential hub now being developed here. The area consists of two villages Rajarhat and Bhangar. Earlier huge acres of cultivable lands were acquired for development in a planned way. The infrastructural and industrial facilities was started under the leadership of then Chief Minister of West Bengal Bhuddhadeb Bhattacharya in 1990. It is about three times bigger than planned Salt Lake City. It was declared as a Solar city by UPA government now it is going to be declared as Smart Green City which is a dream project of Narendra Modi, (now the Prime Minister of India) as per proposal by Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal).

The New Town Kolkata is already declared as a green corridor. It is enabled with 10.5 km Wi-Fi zone up to the airport to Sector V, which is also make it India’s first Wi-Fi road connectivity.

Eco Park
On 27th December 2013, Mamata Banerjee, Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal inaugurated a conglomeration of new projects in Eco Park, New Town which are as follows Biswa Bangla Haat, Children's Eco Park, Floating Musical Fountain, Butterfly Garden, Play Area, Bamboo Garden, Fruits Garden, Food Court, Adda Zone, Grass Land, Tea Garden, Mask Garden, Formal Garden & Eco Island. She also laid the foundation stone of a Wax Museum & launched the 1st issue of New Town Journal.

Eco Park

By Air: The nearest airport to the city is the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport of Kolkata.

By Train: The nearest rail station to the city is the Sealdah, Bidhannagar rail station of Kolkata.

By Road: There is direct road connectivity to Eco Park from Kolkata. Direct buses, private cabs and reserved cabs are available from the city.

Eco Island
A vast area of 480 acres of green terrain surrounding a water body is being developed in Eco Park which has been opened by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, West Bengal on 29 December 2012 for the public. Within Eco Park there is an island named 'Sabujsathi'. The island is in centre of the huge lake of Eco Park comprising an area of 7 acres which is accessible only by boat. This is an uninhabited island. On this Sabujsathi Island an amazing glass house has been built. All four sides of this 2,800 square feet building is made of glass. The 360° view of the Eco Park across the lake through the glass walls is simply spectacular and awe-inspiring.

New Town Financial And Legal Hub
Cluster banking, over the years, has become increasingly important, which is evident from the emergence of London, Singapore and the latest entrant, Dubai, as world’s leading IFC’s. In India, only Bandra Kurla in Mumbai has been developed as a financial cluster, whereas there is a requirement of at least one cluster in every state. Cluster banking allows for various economies of scale for various financial activities like banking, insurance, mutual funds, offshore banking, investments and debt, among others.

Mother's Wax Museum
New Town is situated in the North Eastern Fringes of Kolkata and is fast emerging as one of India’s latest and fastest-growing planned new cities. It is situated adjacent to Salt Lake City and is in close proximity to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata.

MOTHER'S WAX MUSEUM NEW TOWN

People can reach Mothers Wax Museum of Rajarhat-New Town easily from Salt Lake Sector-V and those coming from other areas should follow the Arterial Road from Haldiram Stoppage on VIP Road. Bus services towards this museum are available from Salt Lake Sector-V & Haldiram as well.

Eco Children’s Park
With fountains, play areas, sculptures and elevated platforms connected by causeways, this area is a dynamic space intended to stimulate play and learning experiences in a garden setting.

Rabindra Tirtha
It is a project developed by the HIDCO It houses an exhibition of Tagore’s paintings, archives, a research centre, an auditorium and dormitories for students opting to conduct their research on Tagore. It was inaugurated by Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal on August 8, 2012.

Nazrul Tirtha
Nazrul Tirtha is a cultural and educational center dedicated to the rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The center is situated at Action Area 1, New Town (few meters away from Rabindra Tirtha). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the center on 24 May 2014 to mark the occasion of the 115th birth anniversary of the poet.
