Mandarmani

Mandarmani is a seaside resort village in East Medinipur district and at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal. It is one of the large and fast developing seaside resort village of West Bengal. It is almost 180 km from Kolkata Airport on the Kolkata - Digha route. Red crabs crawling around the 13 km long beach is a special attraction of Mandarmani. It is argued to be the longest driveable (drive in) beach in India. Geomorphologic-ally, this area has relatively low waves than nearer tourist beach of Digha. However still this beach is deposition with formation of neo dunes in several areas specially around Dadanpatrabar.

Mandarmani Sea Beach
Seaside is the main attraction in Mandarmani. The sea beach is very clear due to high and low tide everyday. Its extensive seaside attracts the tourists. The sea view is extremely relaxing and will give you a cool effect.
Perhaps the longest motorable beach in India, a crazy high speed ride on the beach at Mandarmani can give you the ultimate thrill along with some time to relax at the beach. Mandarmani is a small and upcoming beach resort with great potential to be a top notch destination. The beach town with great scenery, beautiful sand beaches and an amazing aura about itself, Mandarmani is a great place to be away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

By Air: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport at Dum Dum in Kolkata is the nearest airport. From here one can either hire a private vehicle or opt for buses to reach Mandarmani.

By Train: Digha is the nearest railway station. It has regular trains from Howrah. From Digha railway station one can hire private vehicle to reach the pristine beach resort of Mandarmani.

By Road: Several state transport buses as well as private luxury buses are available from Esplanade/Howrah in Kolkata to Digha. Get down at Chaulkhola, from here local vehicles are available to reach Mandarmani.

Digha
Digha Beach, located in the proximity, is referred to as 'Brighton of the East'. The low gradient with a shallow sand beach extends 7 km in length. The beach gives a beautiful view of sunrise and sunset. It is a safe beach for swimming as sea at Digha is calm and shallow for about a mile from the beach.

By Air: Nearest airport to Digha is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata. Digha is well connected by road and rail network with Kolkata.

By Train: Nearest railhead is Digha railway station. There are frequently trains (Local or Express) available from Howrah station to Digha.

By Road: Digha is well connected by excellent road with Kolkata. One can take a bus from Esplanade, Howrah, Belgharia etc. or can go by car/cab through NH-6 till Kolaghat and then on NH-41 to reach Digha.

Tajpur
Located in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, India on the shore of Bay of Bengal (near Digha) Tajpur is one of the new additions in tourist map of Bengal. The prime attraction of Tajpur is its pristine sea beach fringed with a dense forest of tamarisk trees. The beach is infested with infinite number of red crabs which are great to watch when they are in numbers. There are fishermen's villages in the vicinity, where one can observe the mundane life of fisherman.

TAJPUR

By Air: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at a distance of about 180 km is the nearest airport.

By Train: From Howrah all Digha bound trains except Duranto Express, halt for a minute at Ramnagar station. From station to the main road i.e. Digha Kanthi road is about 15 mins.

By Road: Kolkata - Vidyasagar Setu - Kolaghat, Turn left - Nandakumar, Turn right - Kanthi, Turn right - Chownkhola More - 4 KM ahead Alampur More, Turn left 3 KM - Tajpur rickshaw stand.

Shankarpur
Shankarpur is a twin beach of around 14 km east of Digha in West Bengal. It is also a regular fishing harbour. The mornings are cool, when fishermen can be seen hauling their huge nets out of the sea. The morning sun reflecting on the sea waves in the east, and the local fish boats on the coast offer excellent photographic opportunities. This beach is mostly empty except on weekends. Shankarpur itself is something of a surprise package, known to locals but largely hidden from the world. It’s a secluded beach, fringed by casuarinas and eucalyptus trees.

SHANKARPUR

By Air: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose international airport at Dum Dum in Kolkata is the nearest airport. From there, one can hire a cab or take a bus to reach Shankarpur.

By Train: Nearest rail station is Digha. There are local and express trains available from Howrah to Digaha. One can take a private cab from Digha station to reach Shankarpur.

By Road: Buses go to Shankarpur from Dharamtala/Esplanade bus stand, Kolkata. Shankarpur is near Digha and can be reached by taking any bus going to Digha.

Udaipur
This is a spectacular beach, almost virgin, 2 km west of Digha, in West Bengal Orissa Border. One part of this clandestine beach is in West Bengal and the other in Orissa. One enters this beach just walking or driving along Bengal-Orissa border. This beach has not been explored so far. The beach has some USPs which has to be experienced to be believed. The vegetation, typical of slopes in Eastern Ghats and the great Casuarina atmosphere, makes this beach, a one of a kind experience. The nearby delta, where the mighty Subarnarekha merges into the Bay of Bengal, is an additional attraction.

Udaipur, An unexplored virgin sea beach located in the border of Orissa is 3 KM from Digha Station.
